Leslie Stickler is not an artist. She has never had work in a gallery show before, nor produced anything substantial or intentional as an adult. She holds an MSS degree from Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and works as a case manager for families involved in the child welfare system. The piece in Acting Out--cage/cradle--was conceived in a fit of hysteria over the bureaucratic processes and structures that masquerade as social support systems. It is full of mixed messages, good intentions, and regrets. Her work was displayed in HomeSkooled’s Acting Out exhibit.
