Lauren Zalut

Lauren Zalut is a Philadelphia-based printmaker and museum educator.  Her imagery is inspired by her experiences growing up in a family of doctors and working for physicians for the past ten years. Often

appropriating images she finds in medical textbooks, her pieces for "Passing Notes" highlight body parts that can pass or fluids pass through. She deliberately takes medical images out of their context to explore the way in which the parts of the systems within the human body resemble other animals and plants, hoping to reveal our biological connection to other organisms. Lauren earned her BA in Visual Studies from Tyler School of Art in 2005.
