Emily Smith Satis was born and raised in New Jersey and received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. After graduation, she worked at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy. When she returned to America, she moved to the mountains of upstate New York to be a recluse. After a brief period, Smith Satis became bored and relocated to Philadelphia in 2008. She now works at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens on South Street.  She resides in Queen Village above a wig store with her partner, Kristin, and her pet fish, Charlie.  Her work was displayed in HomeSkooled’s Acting Out exhibit.
