Book Bombs is a collaboration between Mary Tasillo and Michelle Wilson, using prints, zines, and interactive installations in public spaces. Book Bombs seeks to create narrative spaces where the Philadelphia cityscape becomes a string of havens for its citizens, including the property-less. The artists planned a series of "bombings” of prints and zines as part of PHILAGRAFIKA 2010 Print Festival to activate public spaces in Philadelphia, examining city parks and benches as social space, shelter, and art gallery. The act of papermaking from invasive urban weeds and slow printmaking are acts of resistance to the slick technology of our everyday visual and creative landscape. Their work was displayed in HomeSkooled’s Acting Out exhibit.
