Lauren Bohy has called Philadelphia her home since 2006. She received her BFA in 2004 from Georgian Court University and her MFA from The Art Institute of Boston in 2007. She draws, paints, sculpts, and likes mixed media. Her artworks have been shown in galleries, art centers and alternatives spaces in Philadelphia, Vermont, New Jersey, and New York City. Bohy has also worked as a teaching artist at many Philadelphia art centers. Her art teaching experiences include several healthcare organizations, including community residential homes for persons with developmental disabilities, senior and long term care facilities, and inpatient eating disorders clinics. She believes strongly in the therapeutic aspects of art and art making. Her work at these institutions led her to pursue a nursing degree, which she completed in May, 2011.

Ellen Owens is Philadelphia-based educator and artist. Owens graduated with honors from Penn State University, earning a BA in Art Education with a concentration on Museums and Cultural Institutions and a BFA in Painting and Drawing. She received her MA in Museum Education from the University of the Arts. Owens’ experience in museum education includes the Palmer Museum of Art, the Matson Museum of Anthropology, and the Franklin Institute, most recently heading the educational programming at the American Philosophical Society Museum. Her current role as the first Education and Outreach Coordinator at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens allows her to connect art, diversity, and Philadelphia history. Owens’ arts experience includes coordinating educational programs and managing the Creative Oasis, a public art studio and gallery, designing curricula and teaching classes through the Center for Arts and Crafts at Penn State University, and teaching private lessons. She has assisted installation artists Winifred Lutz and Stacy Levy on large-scale projects and has exhibited artworks in State College, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia. A strong believer in the power of art as an education and communication tool, she spoke at the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums about art and the process of art-making as interpretive methods for museums and cultural institutions.

Kathryn Sclavi is a Philadelphia based artist and educator. As an educator she has worked at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Mural Arts Program writing curriculums, teaching classes and painting large-scale murals. As an artist she has displayed work at galleries in Philadelphia, San Francisco and the New Jersey area. Her fiber-based work often involves audience participation and community involvement. Sclavi also performs burlesque under the stage name Kitten Kaboodle. Currently she is completing her Master’s degree in Art Education, with a focus on Community Arts at the Tyler School of Art. Sclavi believes that art is for the people and should be in places where people can access it comfortably.

Kevin Schott has worked in the education departments of several Philadelphia museums including the Museum of the American Philosophical Society and National Liberty Museum. He received his BA in History and Secondary Education from the College of New Jersey in 2004 and his MA in Museum Education from the University of the Arts in 2006. Education has taken him around the world, including teaching in Thailand and a two-year stint as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching English in Jordan. Schott currently works in the Exhibits department of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. He also serves on Board of the Friends of Jordan as the group’s Program Manager.
